1/31/2012

Well, its been forever since I last updated the News section of my website. 2011 was yet another year of being extremely busy (the busiest thus far!) and another year of family loss. My father passed away 11 months after my mother's passing. As any of you might know that have had both parents pass away there is a lot of ends to tie up after such a loss. I had to juggle more than I thought I could last year. I am looking forward to 2012 being a year of great growth, both spiritually, physically and business wise. In a promise to myself to create a more healthy life I have started Crossfit training, got back on Weight watchers (one of the best weight loss programs out there) and look forward to being the healthiest person I can be.

In hopes of making myself a stronger, healthier person I bring to you, my clients, a promise to make every meal even better. Whatever your dietary goal is, I can help you in your quest for better health.

I look forward to cooking you nutritious and delicious meals in 2012.

Here we are - The Holiday Season and the end of 2010...

How did this year go by so very fast? Incredible. This year has brought many changes to this chefs life, that has made me look forward to 2011. My mother passed away after battling brain cancer, my husband had major eye surgery, my father is now ailing as well, so for me 2010 has been a year of "dealing" with loss and upheaval - things I am not very found of dealing with.

As far as being thankful, I am. I am thankful for my families strength, the love of my friends, the wonderful business that I have built and my clients. These things have been cornerstones for me this year.

Moving forward into 2011 I hope for health (foremost), happiness and prosperity for each and every one of you. I look forward to meeting new families to serve meals to, and to help people reach their dietary goals. With the Holidays comes extra pounds, so I expect to hear from many new people reaching out for my help -to which I look forward to every year.

Happy Holidays and a Very Happy New Year.

This Spring has been a new and challenging experience. I started calorie counting for myself and have found that this method keeps me "in line" with what I am eating each day. Because of this, I am now doing calorie counts on the labels for each dish for several of my clients- and the weight is coming off of them!.

This is big news for those trying to shed some extra pounds and, because of their everyday dietary restrictions, I can accomodate their likes and dislikes easily into dinners and lunches.

If you are considering trying Four Corners Cuisine this might be an option for you. Just let me know and I will help you to lose the weight you want.

Happy Spring Eating,

Chef Shirle'

OK. I know I have not posted anything since last holiday season...that says a lot.

2008 was the busiest year for Four Corners Cuisine, ever.

On top of cooking for all my beloved clients and helping new clients eat better, I also had the opportunities to cater various events, teach cooking classes, volunteer my services for fund raisers, lecturing about healthy food and  even started a food blog. I was a very busy chef and felt really blessed and inspired by all I had contributed to this past year. I only hope that 2009 brings more of the same.

With best wishes to you and your families I look forward to serving you this year!

Here it is...the Holiday Season. Friends, Family and Food abound, along with all the stresses that can come along with this time of year. I have been busy creating menus for many clients for the first of the Seasons meals-Thanksgiving. Turkeys are a roasting, sides are a baking and pies are cooling. Then, in 4 short weeks there will be round 2 with Christmas feasts. Please feel free to call or email me if you find you need help. I am getting excited about all the goodness this time of year offers!

So, The women at The Savvy Gal.Com contacted me for a story on how to personal chef for yourself...I gave lots of tips and advice. Go to the link below to read about it and a big thanks to Cheyanne and The Savvy Gal for being out there to help all us "Savvy Gals!" It's a great resource for anything from auto car to shoes! Read the article here.

So as this year comes to an end I want to send you all the best wishes for a fruitful and healthy 2008 and hope to hear from you soon.

Seasons Eatings and may your every wish come true,

So Spring came and went and now it's Summer and I haven't written a thing...that's a busy, busy chef for you...

Well, I have managed to get to the beach , catch up on my reading (currently it's Anthony Bourdains,"A Cooks Tour"- man, that guy has put some freaky things down his gullet!) and relaxed a bit, but things are still slammin in my world...such as,

I started this crazy adventure called "Chef Shirle's Traveling Vegan Brunch" where I promote a local business that I feel needs the public attention AND give all my vegan (and non vegan) friends a place to go once a month for brunch (there are no choices here for them to eat on a regular basis, at least for brunch). So far they have been hugely successful selling out in an hour each time. The venues so far have been an "Anti-Mall"( 305 South/The Electric Blender), a recycling store (The Scrap Exchange) and a community center (Bull City Headquarters). If you are local you should come out to the next one. Just email me here.

Some current fave ingredients I can't live without this time of year: *Jicama *Quinoa *Tomatoes * fresh Basil *Coconut milk or shreds *roasted red chilis

Well, I have got to run (or bike should I say).

Wishing you all the best the dog days of summer have to offer,

Chef Shirle'

Well, this summer is starting off right with great food, great friends and lots of activities!

I had the honor of being on the judging panel for the Annual Bull City Chili and Salsa Challenge! (click here)

Man, what a way to kick off summer by tasting over seven locally made Chili dishes AND a bunch of Salsas , too! The winner was sent to Texas for the national cook off-best of luck to Dan Barefoot! I also want to mention one of thee best chili's I tasted that day made by 13 year old Jonathan Williams! Sweet and spicy with just the right consistency...if you would like to check out the article in the Durham Herald click here.

On the upcoming horizon I will be sending out a monthly news letter. There will be tips, recipes, announcements of events and such...if you would like to receive this please send me an email with "Subscibe to Newsletter" in the subject line.

I am also glad to announce that the cooking show I film for News 14 will now be sponsered by the NC Dept.of Agriculture and Jeffery's Appliances! This means that the segments will air 3 times a week instead of only Saturdays. So, if you see one of my cooking segments and like what I'm doing please shoot News 14 a note to let them know what you think! web@news14.com

Well, time for a summer walk with my dog and husband and to get the grill ready for dinner!

All the best,

Chef Shirle'

I hope that 2006 has started out great for everyone!

This past holiday I was truly touched at how many people requested my service for their family and friends who had either experienced a major health issue or were dealing with a major life change. This service really impacts the quality of the recipients lives. After meeting the families and preparing their meals I left with such a sense of love and giving and felt that I had been able to touch their lives in such a positive way. To be able to nurture someone with food is a natural instinct that I believe runs deep in my soul. Thank you for trusting in my service and allowing me to come into your lives to help you. It made the season mean so much more!

Now, I know that with New Year Resolutions "eating better" is probably high on most peoples lists, but as time moves on it is easy to fall back in the same old habits.

This is where my service comes in handy. Why fuss over dinner or grab something "quick" (but maybe not so healthy) when you can have a caring Personal Chef cook for you. Everything is totally catered to your desires. Even the pickiest of diners will enjoy the meals Four Corners makes since there is such attention to detail.

Also, if you are starting a diet regimine I can easily keep you on track! You name it, I have made it, from Weight Watchers (which I am a member of, losing 40 lbs last year), South Beach, Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free, Diabetic Diets, etc...

So make this year a healthy, happy and stress-free one by trying Four Corners Cuisine.

All the Best!

Welcome to Four Corners Cuisines new website!

I really couldn't be happier with how wonderful everything looks!
We updated our image, changed a few items and added some new pages.

For instance, you can now watch me,Chef Shirle', prepare some of my favorite recipes for Time Warner Cable's News 14 cooking show, Carolina Cookbook. Simply click on the new "Video Recipes" page and enjoy the videos. This is a wonderful tool for those who want to know what I am like before contacting me.

I have been a News 14 Chef for the past year, along with Chef Penny Rich, demonstrating recipes that incorporate all the goodness of North Carolina agriculture. You can watch me at 25 past and 55 past every hour, Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays .

Also, the News page you are on now will be constantly updated with special
notes, events and ideas as we continue to grow, so please check back
frequently, or better yet, link us to your home page.

Here are a few examples of what's to come in 2006 for Four Corners Cuisine:

Cooking Class Parties:

> Book Clubs - why not create the cuisine to go with the book you are reading!

> Batchelorette or Newlywed Parties - spice identifying games, recipes to keep, and a cute gift for the bride to be.

> Friends That Iron Chef - couples or friends are given a "secret ingredient" and then start dueling it out in the kitchen!

> Corporate Team Building classes (up to 10 people)—team work and bonding to get the meals done.

The Refer a Friend Program:
You refer a friend, we cook for them 3 times and you get your next visit at 20% off our hourly service cost! How nice is that?

Personal Grocery Shopping:
Why not add on a few items that you need around the house while we are at the store?!...a total time saver!

Gift Certificates:
Always the perfect gift and great for those who can't cook for themselves, just had a newborn or home bound due to a hospital visit.

So, as we approach 2006, I would like to wish you a very happy and healthy New Year and to ask you to make Four Corners Cuisine a part of your life with healthy, nutritious and delicious meals.

Take care,
Chef Shirlé
